From the founder
Origin story
I built Timbre in late 2017 to make editing fast and easy on any device. A single Reddit post blew up—50,000 downloads in week one—and the app kept spreading, crossing 5M+ users.
The thesis hasn’t changed: remove friction, help creators ship.
Why Timbre exists
I started a podcast in Bangalore, India. Recording is fun. Everything after that is overhead: syncing files, cleaning audio, cutting filler, captions, resizing for Shorts / Reels / YouTube, exporting, versioning, uploading.
And while you’re doing all this, you’re not focusing on your art. Timbre exists to kill this overhead and let you focus on your art.
What we’re building (in plain English)
- AI editing: transcripts, silence removal & smart word-based cuts.
- Clip generator: turn episodes into Shorts/Reels/TikToks in minutes.
- Clean audio & captions: better sound, on-brand captions—no hassle.
- Multi-format export: 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 without re-editing.
- Brand kits: reuse intros, outros & templates instantly.
- Cross-device: simple on mobile/web, seamless with desktop.
How we work
- Speed over ceremony. Ship small, daily.
- Outcomes over optics. If it doesn’t help creators, it doesn’t ship.
- Default to simple. Every extra toggle is a future support ticket.
- Taste matters. Users feel the details even if they can’t name them.
- Respect the creator. You own your work—we help you make more of it.
Where we’re going
Timbre will stay AI-assisted, creator-directed. Less drag between “record” and “publish.” More high-quality output with fewer clicks.
Our vision is for you to press record. Timbre does all the rest so you can hit “Publish”.
You make the art. Timbre does the rest. — Adi
